FAQ's - Phoenix Wedding Films
Why Should We Have a Wedding Film?
One of the things we hear time and time again from couples after their wedding is, "Our biggest regret was not having a wedding film." And for those who do book us, we often hear, "This was hands down the best decision we made."
Your wedding day goes by in a flash. It’s one of the most meaningful, emotional, and joyful days of your life — yet it passes in what feels like moments. Most couples naturally invest in a photographer, but surprisingly, some choose not to budget for a wedding film. We completely understand that weddings can be expensive, but we genuinely believe that choosing not to have a film is one of those decisions that couples often wish they’d made differently.
Photos are beautiful and important, but they don’t capture the way you spoke your vows. They don’t preserve the sound of the laughter, the cheers, the toasts, or the voices of your loved ones. They can’t bring back the way you moved, the way your guests reacted, or the emotional atmosphere of the day the way film can. A wedding film is something you can come back to time and time again — not just to remember, but to relive.
This isn’t just what we do — it’s what we believe in. We don’t say this to sell you on a service, we say it because we’ve seen firsthand how meaningful these films become for couples and families. It’s an investment in memories, in storytelling, and in preserving something you’ll never get back — the feeling of that day.
If you’re on the fence, we’d love to talk with you. Even if you don’t choose us, we hope you choose someone to film it. You’ll thank yourselves for it later — we promise.
How Do You Film a Wedding?
As a team, we pride ourselves on being as unobtrusive as possible throughout the day. Gone are the days of bulky shoulder-mounted cameras — we work with compact, high-end equipment that allows us to blend into the background while still capturing everything beautifully.
We’re very intentional in our approach: we stay in the shadows for most of the day, interacting just enough to connect with your guests and share in the joy of the celebration. Many couples have told us they were amazed by the moments we captured — often ones they didn’t even realise had been filmed — and were moved to tears watching them back.
We aim to capture your day naturally and authentically, while presenting it in a way that looks like a fully-produced cinematic film. We’ll usually take 5 to 10 minutes with you — often alongside the photographer — to guide you through a few beautiful shots, but everything else is documentary-style and true to life.
How Do You Capture Audio?
For the ceremony, we discreetly place a tiny microphone on the groom, which allows us to capture crystal-clear audio from both the bride and groom as they face each other — all while we’re positioned at a respectful distance. We also run a second & third camera and audio source as a backup to ensure nothing is missed.
During speeches, we ask that all speakers use a microphone — ideally provided by the venue or MC. We’ll discreetly clip our own mic on each speaker and also aim to take a back up from a sound board.
How Do We Pay? / Is There a Discount? / What If We Can’t Afford a Videographer?
We’ve grouped all the financial questions here for simplicity. To secure your date, we require a 20% deposit. The remaining balance is due two months before your wedding, but we’re happy to split payments into two or three installments to make things easier for you.
We don’t offer discounts — and here’s why: we’ve priced our packages to reflect the true amount of time, effort, and heart that goes into every single wedding film. From filming and travel to editing and music licensing, we dedicate hours upon hours to crafting a film that’s as meaningful to us as it is to you.
If budget is tight and a film is something you genuinely want, we encourage you to revisit your wedding priorities (refer to our section on “Why Have a Wedding Film?”). While there are lower-priced options out there, we believe quality speaks for itself — and if you take the time to compare, you’ll notice the difference in care, style, and storytelling.
We don’t rush through edits. We’re perfectionists, and we treat every couple’s film with the same love and attention to detail as if it were our own.
Can We Choose the Music?
We completely understand wanting to pick a soundtrack that feels like "you" — and we promise, we do exactly that.
However, music selection is part of our creative process, and for two important reasons, we don’t offer custom music choices:
We choose songs based on your personalities and the overall vibe of your wedding. Through getting to know you and experiencing your day, we select music from professionally licensed libraries designed specifically for film. We often spend hours finding the perfect track — it’s a key part of the storytelling.
Licensing laws prevent us from using popular commercial tracks like Coldplay or Beyoncé. Any videographer using these without proper licensing is doing so illegally. Our music comes from high-quality, cinematic libraries that help your film feel unique and timeless — not generic or overused.
How Long Are You at the Wedding?
We typically arrive during bridal prep and stay around an hour after the first dance. We don’t clock-watch — we stay for as long as we need to capture your story fully, which usually works out to about 10 hours.
It’s not about the hours on the clock — it’s about leaving with everything we need to create something unforgettable.
Do You Require Feeding?
Yes, please — weddings are long days for us. We usually eat when you and your guests do, at a quiet moment when nothing significant is happening. The easiest option is to provide an extra guest meal, or, depending on the venue, a vendor meal or bar/restaurant tab is also appreciated. Thank you!
Is There Anything We Can Do to Make Our Wedding Film Even Better?
Absolutely. Here are a few tips that can help us deliver the best possible film:
Let us know about any speakers in advance — whether during the ceremony or the speeches — so we can plan our audio setup accordingly.
Designate a clear spot for speeches where a mic can be placed. It helps us lock in great sound and visuals.
Provide a microphone for speeches — ideally through your MC or venue. As mentioned, we wrap our mic around it for perfect consistency.
Minimise noise during the ceremony, especially from children. We understand little ones will be there, but if there's a way to gently manage volume during key moments, it can make a big difference to the audio.
Personal readings or vows — even a letter to each other read privately on camera — are amazing additions. These thoughtful words give us emotional narration to use beneath your film and make it even more personal.
Do You Work with Photographers?
Absolutely — we work seamlessly alongside photographers and have a relaxed, collaborative approach throughout the day. We’ve built lasting friendships with many photographers over the years, and we love sharing the creative space with others who are passionate about capturing your day.
If you're still searching for a photographer, we’re happy to recommend professionals we’ve worked with and trust but we are more than happy to work with someone new too!
When Will We Receive Our Wedding Film?
We aim to send you a short 1–2 minute trailer within about three weeks of the wedding — something beautiful to share and relive the day while the full edit is being prepared.
The full film is usually ready within 2–3 months. We’ll share it via a Vimeo link first, and then send over everything in a beautifully designed online gallery — like your own personal Netflix page. You’ll be able to stream and download all your MP4 files in high quality from there.
A Quick Note on What Happens After We Leave
Filming a wedding is a huge commitment — both emotionally and physically. Once we pack up, we don’t head home and sleep. We back up your footage (twice), organise our gear, and occasionally prepare for another wedding the next day — sometimes after a long drive. It’s all part of the process to ensure your memories are safe and sound.
Thank you for understanding — your trust means everything to us, and we’re honoured to be part of your story.
